At illumia Medical, we understand that subtle adjustments can make a significant difference in enhancing your natural beauty. Using Polydioxanone (PDO) cog threads, our 3D and 4D NoseLift treatments help to achieve specific aesthetic goals.
What are 3D and 4D NoseLifts And How Do They Work?
The 3D Noselift is a type of thread lift designed for those seeking subtle tweaks to their nose without surgery. This procedure focuses on slight lifts to the bridge and subtle narrowing of the tip to achieve balanced facial proportions and elevate your natural beauty.
Doing everything the 3D NoseLift does with the addition of reducing the nose wings, the illumia 4D NoseLift is a gentle, non-surgical procedure that naturally tweaks the nose bridge, nose ridge, nose tip and nose wings.

Benefits of PDO Threads
We have chosen to use PDO threads for all our thread lift procedures at Illumia because of their long and proven track record–PDO threads have been used in all types of surgeries for the past 40 years and counting. They are 100% non-toxic and carry little risk of bacterial migration, inflammation, and protrusions.
The colourless PDO cog threads are biodegradable and will dissolve after six months. Other than physically lifting the targeted areas of the nose to your desired proportions thanks to the tiny barbs on the sutures, the PDO threads also stimulate collagen production as the body’s natural healing process. And as we all know, collagen does wonders to naturally plump out the skin for improved structure and texture.
The Nose Lift Experience
During a nose thread lift, PDO threads are carefully inserted into the nose using a fine needle. These threads provide structural support and stimulate collagen production, leading to a more defined and contoured nose. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia to ensure comfort. Compared to face lifts, a nose lift typically takes less than an hour to complete.
FAQs
Who is suitable for a 3D and 4D NoseLift?
The Illumia 4D Noselift is best for people who:
- Are in their early 30s to 50s and experiencing early signs of ageing
- Are looking to define their natural bridge height
- Want to attain natural contouring on the nose
- Don’t want overly dramatic results
- Cannot or do not want to undergo the knife for a traditional facelift
What should I avoid before undergoing a noselift?
Some mild bruising after the nose lifts is expected as the threads are inserted into the skin. To speed up healing and minimise the bruising, our patients are advised to avoid the following:
- Alcohol
- Smoking
- Any aspirin-based medications such as Ibuprofen, Neurofen, Naprosen/Naprogesic; anti-inflammatory medications such as Naprosyn; or blood-thinning medications such as Warfarin.
What results should I expect from the 3D or 4D NoseLift treatment?
Once the bruising and mild swelling have gone down, you should expect to see an elevated and more defined nasal bridge, as well as a lifted and slimmer nasal tip. No over-the-top or dramatic effects with our nose lift treatments, only a naturally contoured nose that’s still yours but better.
What is the downtime for this treatment?
The bruising and swelling may stick around for up to 5 days, after which you will be as good as new. Remember to take your prescribed medications in the first two to three days, to minimise discomfort and speed up the healing process!
Can I resume daily activities after the nose lift treatment?
Work and most regular activities may be resumed immediately with minimal side effects. Common side effects include mild swelling and bruising, which usually subside within 48 hours.
What are the after-care guidelines for a quick recovery?
To help speed up recovery of the bruising and swelling, and ensure that the threads are kept in place for best results, these guidelines are for you.
Do:
- Take your pain medications and antibiotics
- Keep your head elevated at a 45-degree angle when in bed using a pillow
- Apply ice to reduce swelling
- Get ample rest
Don’t:
- Wash your face or hair in the first 12 hours
- Apply facial products or make-up in the first 48 hours
- Exercise vigorously or engage in any strenuous activity for up to two weeks
- Consume alcohol or smoke for up to two weeks
Can I drink alcohol before or after my nose lift treatment?
You are strongly discouraged from drinking alcohol two weeks before and the month after your treatment. Consuming alcohol will dehydrate your skin and may increase your blood pressure, both of which will slow down the healing process.
How often should I do the 3D or 4D NoseLift treatment?
The PDO threads will organically dissolve in about six months, but the boosted collagen production from the threads will help lift your nose naturally until a year post-procedure. For a continual lift, the best time to get a repeat noselift is about 9 to 12 months after the first treatment.
